My parting desk set up. Bye @nzstuff, gonna miss you guys in Wellington! (But not the trolls. You’ll keep ;P)
I read this when my friend posted it after her mother died last week and this week it just feels even more poignant.
“…You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”

Big news today!
I’ve resigned from my job at Stuff.co.nz where I had been seconded in to an editorial project management role from my initial role as social media editor more than two years ago.
As many of you know, in a few weeks I’m on the move to the mighty Manawatu for (awesome) personal reasons, and unfortunately I was unable to continue this role from the regions.
However I’ll still be around and I am excited to say I’ve accepted the job as digital editor of manawatustandard.co.nz.
One of the parts I’ve loved about my job with Stuff (and there were MANY) was meeting journalists around our group of newspapers and getting them interested about the future of journalism, adapting to fast-paced technology changes and new storytelling tools.
With this new role I’ll be able to really get some focus on doing just that, and put in to action some ideas I’ve had floating around for a while.
I just wanted to thank you all who have supported me - whether personally or professionally, or both - as my career (and life) has taken twists and turns and got me to where I am (deliriously, sickeningly happy).
It’s been an awesome five years in Wellington, but I’m ready for a change. This Hamilton girl is returning to her roots of a city of dairy famers and boy racers, of mall shopping and smelly rivers.
My new home.
“What if, 20 years down the line, we change our minds, waking up one morning to find ourselves inexplicably out of love? These scenarios keep my mind merrily churning at night, even as I look over at my sleeping mate, certain that I have never loved anyone so profoundly. ”

- One of the best pieces of writing about impending marriage that I’ve read. Well worth the read.
